Pete Duncan - Chair

Born in North London, Pete became a North Easterner when he came up to Newcastle University to undertake a town planning degree. He has worked for and served on the boards of a variety of public and voluntary sector organisations and has a national reputation in the field of social housing and community empowerment.

He has 12 national publications to his name, all on the theme of communities, housing and regeneration. Outside work, Pete is a committed Arsenal supporter, landscape and wildlife photographer, and birdwatcher.

Pete has lived and worked in Stocksfield with his partner Sally for over 25 years. Between them they have three grown up children, all currently living down South. His consultancy business is based in Stocksfield Hall. Pete was also a Broomley and Stocksfield Parish Councillor for six years.

Pete is SCATA's chair and, alongside Norman Hooks, has led the development of the organisation's first affordable homes project in the village.

Ineke Gijsbers - Treasurer

Originally from Nijmegen, the Netherlands, Ineke has lived in the north east since 2005 and in Stocksfield since 2010. Originally trained as an agroforester, she worked in Mali (West Africa) for several years before moving to Oxfordshire in 1997 to work as a scientific editor at CAB International.

Following a stint as freelance abstractor and training as a volunteer generalist advisor at Citizen Advice Bureau, she worked as a Welfare Rights Officer for a local housing association before taking on her current role with them as a Housing Officer supporting older people. While living in Allendale, she was involved in Sustainable Allendale.

She is currently one of the Directors of Stocksfield Community Association. Married with two teenage 'bonus-kids', she is a great supporter of The Big Lunch to reinforce good neighbourhood relationships.

Ineke acts as company secretary for SCATA and also serves as its treasurer.

 

Norman Hooks - vice chair

Norman moved to Stocksfield 15 years ago after a long career in teaching, most of which was spent in Staffordshire.

He has been a member of Stocksfield Festival Committee since its formation in 2009 and a member of the Parish Council's advisory group on Rights of Way & Environment since 1999.

He joined the Management Committee of, what was then' Stocksfield Institute Community Association' in 2000,becoming chairman in 2005 Continued as chair of the board as 'SICA' changed its charitable status in 2011 and was re-named Stocksfield Community Association.

Norman was a member of Broomley & Stocksfield Parish Council from 2007 -2011 during which time he was involved with accessing funding from the Dept. for Transport to extend the station car park and producing the current Parish Plan. He joined the Steering Group which eventually formed SCATA in May 2012.

Jane Milner

Jane has been based in the Stocksfield area since 1997 and established her architectural practice, Jane Milner Architecture & Design in April 2012.

Originally from North Yorkshire, Jane studied at Newcastle University and following a short period working in London returned to the North East to complete her professional qualifications in 1990.

Working for Newcastle City Design, Jane rose from Assistant Architect to Group Manager, gaining much experience in the full spectrum of Professional Design Services and Management; notably working on many of the City's public buildings, community and education projects.

Later moving into private practice she worked with two Newcastle based design led practices - Mosedale Gillatt Architects and later xsite architecture LLP.

Jane Milner Architecture & Design was established to enable Jane to continue developing the interesting and diverse portfolio of work in her local area of Northumberland whilst dealing with the demands of a busy family life. More recent developments and interests in conservation have added to her knowledge and experience.

As a lifelong sports fan Jane takes part in local netball and tennis teams and now keenly supports her two sons in their own sporting activities in the Stocksfield area.

Jane is primarily involved with the property aspects of SCATA's work to bring her professional experience to the group.

Alison Richardson

Hailing from Leeds, West Yorkshire, Ali has over 25 years' experience of working in communications and public relations.

She cut her teeth in in-house communications working for Yorkshire Electricity were she carried out a variety of roles including public affairs, community relations, marketing, media relations and internal communications.

She moved to Northumberland in 1999 to marry Hugh and they have two teenage children. Since moving to Northumberland, she has worked for a PR agency for about five years before moving back into in-house comms. She currently works for a leading north east housing group, managing its communications team.

Ali enjoys reading and all things interior design - much to her husband's despair!
